20/20 in 2020!

This new year, 2020, brings with it opportunity for fresh vision and new perspective! Lately, John and I have been hearing messages from the pulpit reminding us that there is a season for everything (Ecclesiastes 3). It's caused me to wonder and to pause to take notice of the time that I'm in - right here and right now. Learning to stop and see the simple beauties given with each sunrise, I'm being fed by simple things that nourish like daily bread.

I've shared a poem below that speaks of this fresh vision, this new perspective.

Perhaps you would like to pause and consider the season that you're in, too. Perhaps you'll join me and pull aside, and find the time today to take notice of things easily missed...

In this season, what gifts are surrounding? What bounties have been given?

Will you slip into this moment and explore the rooms of the heart and mind, and notice the brightness there? See the slivers of sun shining in. Take note of the clutter that's been cleared. Notice the hope filling the places of despair, the love displacing fear.

The more we see, the more we have. The more we appreciate, the more we carefully steward what we've been given. The more we give thanks, the more full our arms become.

What has the kindness of God done for you in the last season?

What truth has he revealed?

What has he washed and healed?

How are you different now?

Look, and see! Notice your new perspective. Relish in the joy of today and delight in clearer vision! Give thanks to the One who gives good gifts and provides our daily bread.

A New Perspective

Poetry by Denae Haas

Eyes washed clean

of impurities and pain

Now I can see

all that I've gained.

Resting in His hand

arms warm and wide

How could I ever live

far away from his side?

His smile, ever-present

his whisper, ever near

My God is now known

Presence removes every fear

No matter where I go

he is there too

Ever guiding and pointing

the right way to move

He showers down blessing,

every morning it's new

Faithful and always -

like sun chasing dew

He's opened my eyes

to the here and the now

To beauty unspoken

to present's love-sound

My ears hear a melody

as he sings out a tune

Like words never spoken

he's singing joy anew

My heart now receives it

awakened - what bliss!

So I join in the dancing

of morning's first kiss

Dance on, Denae,

for now you're alive

Yesterday's stolen

but today - you're revived

Enjoy this new perspective -

another gift from the King

Amaze at his goodness

and the beauty he brings

For today is the gift

and you're awakened once again

So walk with eyes open,

and keep close to him.

"Here’s the one thing I crave from God, the one thing I seek above all else: I want the privilege of living with him every moment in his house, finding the sweet loveliness of his face, filled with awe, delighting in his glory and grace. I want to live my life so close to him that he takes pleasure in my every prayer.

In his shelter in the day of trouble, that’s where you’ll find me, for he hides me there in his holiness. He has smuggled me into his secret place, where I’m kept safe and secure— out of reach from all my enemies. Triumphant now, I’ll bring him my offerings of praise, singing and shouting with ecstatic joy! Yes, listen and you can hear the fanfare of my shouts of praise to the Lord!"

(Psalm 27:4-6 TPT)
