Psalm of the Shepherd

Psalm 23 ~ My Good Shepherd

The Lord is my shepherd; The great Lord of All is mine and I am His!

I shall not want, because He supplies my every need and His treasures are abundant and infinite.

He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He walks beside me!  The grass is green and soft underfoot and I am fully at peace.

He leads me beside still waters.  I breathe the air, fresh, deep, and clean.

He restores my soul; time with Him refreshes and makes me whole.

He leads me in the paths of righteousness; For His name’s sake.  He teaches me along the way.  May my life bring Him glory!

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, though there is darkness all around me,

I will fear no evil; for You are with me, I never have to be afraid.

Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.  You are my protection and Your correction is for my good; I can trust You.  You will never humiliate or embarrass me, no matter the mess I’ve made.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.  It is a peaceful place, because You are there.  Though the world is dark, You sit beside me and serve all that I need to live an abundant life.

You anoint my head with oil; Your spirit is on me and I am chosen and set apart as Your child.

My cup runs over and I am filled with joy in Your presence.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; Your light flows through me and all my household will abide in Your great love.

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.  I choose you, Jesus, and you have chosen me.  We are family; together forever – even until the end of time.

Thank you, thank you, thank you my Good Shepherd!
